Reboot this fall

Sometimes we need to shake ourselves up a bit—a sort of a reboot from our everyday routines.  Taking on something new can be intimidating, but being pushed beyond our comfort zone can help you grow and realize new potential.

Last season I took up skiing with the family.  A day out on the slopes was just what I needed. I wasn’t thinking about work, but rather I spent the whole day trying not to fall!  The fresh air helped to clear my mind and re-invigorate my body.  I don’t have any lofty goals of making it to the next Olympics, but hitting the slopes made me realize I had been in a little bit of a rut.

Exercise is a great way to reboot, and if you need a push, sign up for a  5K race or a charity walk.  Take a dance class, make plans with a friend to Rollerblade in the park like the old days, or sign up for a sailing lesson this summer.

Sometimes taking the time to do something that you’ve always wanted to do but never have time for, like that cooking or sewing lesson, can help erase that feeling that something else rules your life (whether it be work, young kids, or keeping up the house).  It doesn’t really matter what you do.  Taking on a challenge and succeeding is good for the soul!
